When my son was born I became hyper aware of what we put on and in our bodies. We live in a pretty bug infested area close to water so bug spray is a must, unless of course you want to be carried away by a giant swarm of mosquitoes and driven insane by black flies, horse flies and deer flies (is it getting itchy in here?). I happened across this little gem at a local baby expo and it is AMAZING!!!! First, it is all natural and kid safe! Second, it WORKS!! Third, it smells GREAT!!! (ok it's not Calvin Klein but for bug spray it smells fantastic) Fourth (yes, there is a fourth), it lasts forever!!!! Roughly two years for an average family of 4!! I know, you should buy some. Oh and I almost forgot it works great as an after bite ointment should you forget to apply it in time. Thank me later.
With my new product consciousness I was also in the market for a better sunscreen. This one is our favorite. They make adult and kid varieties, scented and unscented. Normally I would go unscented but this one has a light scent that isn't overpowering and for some reason reminds me of carrot cake (ooh cake...). Anyway, it goes on thick which I kinda like and it lasts quite a while before you have to reapply. My son is super fair skinned (like me), more like translucent really so he burns easy. We have spent many hours outside this past month with barely and hint of pink and THAT is wonderful.

Naked Bee Facial Moisturizer
Edited: I no longer endorse or use this product. I recently became aware of a new app called Think Dirty (available in the app store). It allows you to scan all of your personal care products and it gives them a 0-10 toxicity rating as well as a comprehensive ingredient list and the known side effects. Much to my dismay this product ranked a 9 and had a laundry list of possible interactions that I would just as soon steer clear of. I'm more than willing to admit when I am wrong and I was really wrong here! Sorry to anyone who tried this on my word. That being said, this is a valuable lesson in consumerism. Don't rely on packaging alone to give you the information you need. In this case 70% organic is just a gimmick to make you feel like you are doing better than the average 0% organic but obviously it can be just as bad and very misleading. I am now on the hunt for a new facial moisturizer! If you have a recommendation I'd love to hear it!

The weather in northern NY during "spring" can range from below freezing and snow to 80 degrees and sunny sometimes within the same week so moisturizers are helpful. I found this one at my local ACE Hardware (I know weird huh?! It's also on Amazon) when I was pregnant with my son and I've used it ever since. It is thick and creamy but feels light on the skin. It has the much needed SPF 30 and a pleasant scent. It's my go to moisturizer and I wear it everyday.
